Gazprom in Iran LNG cooperation deal
Russian giant Gazprom said it had signed a memorandum of understanding on possible cooperation in the Iran LNG export project.
The memorandum was signed on Wednesday during a working visit headed by Gazprom’s chief Alexey Miller.
Gazprom signed the deal with Iranian Oil Industry Pension, Saving and Staff Welfare Fund, according to a Gazprom statement.
Iran LNG, also known as NIOC LNG, is developing a liquefaction plant at Tombak Port, about 50 kilometres north of Assaluyeh Port.
The first phase of the project includes two LNG trains each with a capacity of 5.25 million mt of LNG per annum.
The second phase could see the plant being expanded to 21 million mt per year by adding two additional trains.
Iran LNG’s main shareholders are the National Iranian Oil Company and the Oil Industry Pension, Saving and Staff Welfare Fund.
